Lorenzo Natalini (1954), concert performer since 1978, got his diploma at Verona Music Conservatory and graduated at Biella High Perfectioning Academy "L. Perosi" under Angelo Gilardino's guidance. He studied composition with Giorgio Mezzanotte.
Winner of the first prize at national and international guitar competitions, he played for the most important Concert Societies. His repertoire ranges from the ancient music to the experimental avant-garde production.
He has premiered original guitar compositions by Dusan Bogdanovic, Angelo Gilardino, Antonio José, Sergio Mauri, Carlo Mosso and Reginald Smith-Brindle. Some of those works are dedicated to him. He performed the complete catalogue of compositions for guitar written by Carlo Mosso. He realized recordings for the Italian and Swiss Italian national broadcastings.
The critics have unanimously acknowledged to his interpretations a refinement in the timbre and a richness in the dynamic that have great effectiveness and that are rare to find.
Since 1976 he is also a classical guitar teacher who brings his pupils to the diploma and guides them through the concert performing activity.
He used to be the "tester" of several Italian and foreign guitar makers.
Since 2002 he works professionaly as guitar maker, building classical concert guitars (see the review in the guitar magazine "Seicorde" - Michelangeli Editore, Milan, n. 70/2002).
During the years he has taken part to several guitar expositions.
In 2006 he wrote a technical paragraph about a guitar which had been built in 1966 by the Italian guitar maker Pietro Gallinotti. That paragraph is published in the book Pietro Gallinotti. Liutaio di Solero, by M. Dell'Ara - M. Grimaldi, Rosa Sonora - Savigliano 2006.
He is a member of the professional association of instrument makers A.L.I. (Cremona - Italy).
His relentless research about the sound, carried out with absolute personal originality within the musical interpretation, fully merged in the creation of musical instruments addressed either to timbre quality and variety, and sound projection.
Being keen on figurative arts, he applies his natural gift for drawing and painting to plan and manufacture classical guitars, according to an aesthetical ideal of simple and refined elegance.
He pays special attention to choose valuable woods, carefully selected and seasoned.
His works, strictly handmade, follow the handicraft tradition of classical guitars.
His concert performing experience is one of his strenghts, both for the critical awareness of the sound effect, and the care of each detail, which may boost the instrument performance.
